a perfect family outing to
The Commemorative Airforce Museum
in Mesa is the perfect field trip with kids!
We walked in having absolutely no idea what to expect. I mean, I see the awesome planes taking off and landing all the time – but the actual museum blew me away! I learned so many cool and interesting facts about each warplane from our awesome guide. We went in the late morning on a weekday and the place practically to ourselves with a personal guide (which is completely optional).
The cost for adults (13+) – $15, Kids (5-12) – $5, children 5 and under are FREE. CAF also has school Field trips! Tours are absolutely optional and free. If you don’t want a tour, you can just walk around everywhere on your own. I would definitely recommend the tour – we received such awesome information.
I loved that you could actually walk around INSIDE a couple of the planes. These two in particular were fun to learn about. One was used in the war – and then in the 1950’s turned into a private plane that is STILL in operation. I love that the 1950’s decor is still being used. It was so cool to walk through the B-17 Bomber and learn about the men that flew and operated it.
And look at that – he’s just as tall as a bomb
Occasionally CAF has family events throughout the year – their Southwest Military Transport Show is March 30th-March 31st, 2019 and they have an awesome deal for your family! Only $10 for the entire family on Saturday only.
